Sallyphoto

Sally Vulcano is the creator and owner of TherapyTime.  Sally graduated with honors from St. Louis University with her Masters in Communication Disorders. Sally has enjoyed working in Chicago and the Phoenix area, for over 20 years, with children and adults of all ages. Over the years, Sally has dedicated herself to the pursuit of excellence in the field of speech-language disorders, which evolved into forming TherapyTime, a company of highly skilled Speech Pathologists. Sally is also the creator and publisher of  Thumb Suckers  Top Secret Kid’s Club, a program designed for Dentists, speech pathologists and parents to eliminate the thumb sucking habit in children.  She enjoys spending time with her husband of 27 years, and her two grown boys. Her “first born” is working as a graphic designer and her youngest attends ASU, pursuing a degree in medicine

Crystal

Crystal is TherapyTime’s Executive Director and CFY Supervisor.  Crystal has been a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist for ten years.  She graduated from the University of Massachusetts and has had a variety of opportunities in the field since then.  She began at an acute care hospital specializing in the diagnosis and management of dysphagia, then began working in early intervention, and is currently working in the school setting with elementary aged children.  Throughout these experiences she has served as a clinical fellow supervisor to several new graduates.  When she is not working she and her husband enjoy cooking together and watching their 3 children play tennis, soccer and gymnastics.  She believes that being an SLP is an exciting career and a wonderful way to help people of all ages become better communicators. Did we mention she is bilingual too~!

Teresathird

Teresa Cardon, M.A. CCC-SLP has worked with individuals on the autism spectrum for over 16 years. Teresa has worked in a variety of settings, including public schools, and has assisted thousands of families and their children as they work to increase their social communication skills. Teresa provides interactive and motivating workshops internationally. Teresa is currently pursuing her PhD. in Speech & Hearing Science with an emphasis in autism and works as a Faculty Research Associate at Arizona State University.  Teresa has written many articles on communication strategies and is the author of Initiations and Interactions (2006) and Let's Talk Emotions (2004).  Her third book, Top Ten Tips: A Survival Guide for Parents of Children with ASD, is soon to be published.  Teresa currently contracts with Therapy Time as their autism consultant.

Kendrathird

Kendra is TherapyTime's research specialist. Kendra just moved to Phoenix from Cincinnati, Ohio, having completed her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Cincinnati.  Her favorite areas of interest in speech-pathology include phonology, articulation and promoting and improving literacy in children with speech and language disorders.  In her free time, she and her boyfriend  enjoy playing with their dogs Larry and Wally, and going to sporting events. She also enjoys going swimming in Arizona's hot desert weather, and working out. Originally from California, it is great for Kendra to be closer to her family.

Judiththird

Judith is a licensed certified speech-language pathologist who specializes in stuttering. She is a Board Recognized Fluency Specialist in ASHA (American Speech-Hearing-Language Association). She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, worked in the public schools in Illinois, and maintained a private practice. Emphasis was on fluency therapy, consultation, and presenting workshops and in 2002, began doing this work in stuttering in AZ. Beginning in 1999 to 2004, she was a clinical supervisor at Eastern Washington University in July for the Successful Stuttering Management Program. Judith has just completed serving as Convention Chair for the AZ Speech and Hearing Association (ArSHA) in May, 2006.

Much time has been donated to the self-help movement for people who stutter. She is a stutterer and founded NSA Metro North in Illinois.  This is one of eighty Chapters of the National Stuttering Association and in June 2000, she was Chair of the 17th Annual Convention in Chicago.  Judith received the award of SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST OF THE YEAR in 2001 from the NSA. In Tucson, Judith is facilitating the NSA Chapter and attends Toastmasters where she is working on her ATM (Advanced Toastmasters) award.

Olgaolga

Olga is a New Jersey native who moved out to our beautiful desert during her high school years. Olga obtained her Masters Degree from Boston University, and has had the opportunity to work in both the public school setting and in long term care geriatrics. Olga continuously strives to improve and gain professional knowledge.  She enjoys working with people of all ages, and she thinks Speech-Language Pathology is the best thing that has ever happened to her!  In her free time, Olga loves to hike, learn about healthy eating and fitness, and spend time with her wonderful family. 

Jill

Jill graduated from Northern Arizona University with her  M.S. in 2005. She was voted most outstanding Speech Language Student in her graduating class!  Jill enjoys spending time in the outdoors. Hiking, jogging, swimming, and bike riding are favorite pastimes.  She also is very happy volunteering with her church and her sweet cat, Zoey, whom she loves dearly.

Heidithird

Heidi graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where she greatly enjoyed her extensive internships at the VA Hospital in Detroit and Children's Hospital of MI's TBI center.  Heidi focused on adult neurogenic communication disorders and was looking forward to a long career in the adult population (either that or being Jane Goodall or Jacque Cousteau, as animals are her other big passion!).  As they say, life happens as we make plans, and she found herself doing home visits in the city of Detroit with the birth to three, early intervention population.  What do you know?!  She loved it!  So here she is, feeling the love in preschool and enjoying each moment!  For Heidi, it is all about the connection with each child that really opens the pathways for enhanced communication.  She loves seeing the smiles as they feel more confidence and validation in exploring the power of expression and understanding.  For hobbies, Heidi loves hiking, biking and exploring nature, yoga and traveling to new places.

Leah third

Leah received her master's degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead
(MSUM) in 2006. Her graduate project concentrated on therapy techniques for voice
disorders. She was honored to  present a research project on a parent-child communication program at MSUM's academic conference. Leah just moved to Arizona from Fargo, North Dakota and is loving the warm weather! She enjoys reading, golfing, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Kimberlythird

Kimberly received her Bachelors degree from Bradley University and her Masters degree from Northern Arizona University.  She has worked in the public school setting for more than 16 years in five different states.  She has worked with students ranging from kindergarten through high school but really enjoys the primary grades most.  Kim has recently returned to the work force after taking time off following the birth of her twins.  In her spare time, when she is not involved in activities with her beautiful twin girls, she enjoys cooking, baking, decorating her home, scrap booking, watching sports, especially hockey and baseball and spending time with her friends.

Nicole

Nicole joined the TherapyTime team in the Fall of 2005.  She has worked in the pre-school, elementary, and secondary school setting for more than ten years.  She earned her bachelor’s of science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Northern Arizona University. She completed her Master’s of Science in Speech Pathology from Northern Arizona University in the spring of 1996.  Nicole maintains her Arizona State licensure, and has been a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for ten years.  In her free time, Nicole enjoys traveling with her husband and two young boys, reading and going to the gym.   .  

Ginathird

Gina graduated from San Jose State University in 2001.  She was very active and held several offices with associations in the state of California.  She was part of NSSLHA, CSHA, BAMSHA, and SCCSHA. Gina is a very happy and easygoing person who loves to make people laugh.  She recently moved from California to Arizona and loves it here!  She is most proud of her gorgeous and precious little boy Nashua and the most wonderful husband in the world, Glenn.   Gina is hoping to get her amazing parents to move from California to Arizona. Gina is a huge sports nut!!  Go Giants and A's!!!  She is on two co-ed softball teams, love to play golf, tennis, volleyball, and loves to run.  She also states that being a speech language pathologist is the greatest job in the world.  Gina is happy to go to work everyday to see those smiling faces ready to get to work!!  Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her two favorite boys, family, and friends!!  Cheers to life!!!

Carynthird

Caryn is originally from the Mid-West, Indiana to be exact, so the weather and the amazing views are completely welcomed! While in Indiana, she completed her undergraduate studies at Purdue University and then her graduate studies at Indiana State University. Caryn has 4 years experience as an SLP, working for several different school districts. What brings Caryn to AZ, you ask? When she was young, her family took a vacation “Out West” to see many of the national parks, and along the way,  passed through Phoenix. She fell in love with the climate, the mountains, and the city in general. Caryn has been here only a short time, but loves it even more than anticipated!

Ilene

Ilene moved to Phoenix after living in Flagstaff, AZ for 26 years.  She loves the warmer climate and the Anthem community. Ilene is a graduate from Northern Arizona University with a Masters in Speech Pathology. She is an outgoing person who loves to laugh and enjoy life!  Her favorite activities are hiking, walking, biking, working out, reading, dining out with friends and traveling. Ilene lived in Greece for a summer while in college and traveled to many countries. She is most proud of her two full grown kids who are the joy of her life.  Ilene’s son is going to college in Durango, CO and her daughter is studying to be a physician assistant in Portland, OR.

Amy

Amy grew up in Culver, Indiana and completed her undergraduate degree at Purdue University.  She went on to live and work in London, England during and after graduation from Purdue.  After a year of living abroad, Amy enrolled in the clinical masters program at NAU.  While in Flagstaff, she participated in the USDOE Literacy Grant, learned to hike, and decided to start her career in Phoenix.  In her free time, Amy enjoys looking at maps, exploring zoos and museums, and most recently, frequent pedicures

Maria

Maria, a native of Texas recently moved from Las Cruces, New Mexico to Phoenix. She is a graduate of New Mexico State University. Upon finishing graduate school, she remained in the area working as a Bi-lingual therapist for the Las Cruces Public School District. In her time there, she focused working with Spanish speaking children and their families. She is a strong advocate for the educational rights of Spanish speaking students. She enjoys outdoor activities, cooking, spending time with friends and family and traveling. The farthest she’s gone so far is to Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania, Romania.

Melaniethird

Melanie, originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, graduated in 2006 with her Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University.  During her time as an undergraduate and graduate student, she participated in research regarding traumatic brain injury, executive functioning, and autism. In her free time, Melanie enjoys jogging, biking, and traveling. Melanie’s bright sunny disposition is a welcome addition to our group!

Gordana1

Gordana, originally from Northwest Indiana, worked 8 years in a public school before acquiring her Master's Degree from Indiana State University in 2007. Gordana has worked extensively with students ranging from ages 3 to 22. Gordana's special love is working with children and adults with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism.

Gordana enjoys shopping, spending time with her niece and nephew, watching movies and exploring the city. Some of her other hobbies include attending concerts, visiting museums and hiking.

Abel

Abel is a recent graduate of Indiana State University, acquiring his Master's Degree in 2007.  Abel is originally from California, but has spent the last decade in small-town Indiana.   In order to satisfy his craving for adventure and change, he opted to pawn off his winter toboggans and scarves for gas money, stuffed his trunk with textbooks, and traveled nearly 2000 miles to work for Therapy Time in Phoenix, Arizona!  Abel's interest in the field of speech-language pathology originally stems from his personal experiences as a stutterer.   This has remained his "driving force" in the field, enabling him to not only help those who are in need of service, but relate them as well. In his free time, Abel enjoys  watching and studying film, developing a particular fondness for the classic genre.   He is also an avid writer, having recently taken up an interest in short stories.  Abel enjoys live concerts, comedy clubs, and exploring new restaurants.  In fact, he is determined to eat at every restaurant in Maricopa county at least once!  Most importantly,  he takes tremendous joy in making other people laugh.  Abel is absolutely delighted to be working with a staff of encouraging and helpful therapists and can't wait to see what the future will hold!

Denise

Denise completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Northern Arizona University. She graduated her masters program with honors in 2005. While at Northern Arizona University, Denise participated in implementing a USDOE Literacy grant, participated in an early language-literacy camp for children with developmental language delays, and completed a student trainee program with the International Association of Laryngectommees. Denise recently relocated to Phoenix from San Diego, CA where she enjoyed working in the public school system as a Speech Pathologist for the last 3 years. Denise enjoys skiing, hiking, tennis, and spending time with her friends and family.

Kellythird

Kelly grew up in rural western PA, and got her Master's Degree at Clarion University of PA in 1997 and her undergraduate degree is in Communication - Media and Advertising from Clarion University in 1992. Kelly discovered the field of speech therapy while working as a secretary at the County Nursing Home, realized her calling, and went back to school. She has experienced a variety of different work settings, including outpatient pediatric clinics, but focused on working with children in the Columbus Public Schools before moving to AZ with her boyfriend, Kris in December, '07. Kelly loves to run, with 5 full marathons under her belt! Kelly also enjoys playing the piano, shoe-shopping and traveling every chance she gets! Her
goal is to have at least 5 stamps in her newest passport before it expires!

Sarathird

Sara grew up in the SW suburbs of Chicago, and received her undergraduate degree from Illinois State University in 2001. After working in the public school system for 2 years, she decided to trade in her snow boots for flip-flops, and moved to sunny AZ in 2003! Sara graduated with honors in 2005 from Northern Arizona University. While completing her graduate studies at NAU, she also participated in an Interdisciplinary Studies program at the Institute for Human Development, with a focus on Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Sara also assisted with the writing and implementation of 2 grants while at NAU, the USDOE literacy grant, as well as a grant geared towards encouraging and enabling Native American students to completing graduate level education to become speech pathologists. Sara is thrilled with her career as a speech language pathologist, and loves having the opportunity to help children become independent communicators! In her spare time, Sara enjoys trips to Chicago to visit her family and friendscooking, eating, hiking, camping, and spoiling her sweet golden retriever, Lily!

Laurathird

Laura graduated with her Bachelor's and Master's degree from Utah State University. She originally discovered the field of speech-therapy while working on a degree in deaf education. Laura made the switch to speech pathology and has never regretted it! She enjoys working with preschoolers and younger school-age kids, stating "it's great to see how much progress they can make!" Laura moved to Arizona about a year and a half ago and loves it here, but still misses the snow! She enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, spending time with her husband, and remodeling her new home.

Lizthird

Liz is originally from Columbus, Ohio and received her Bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She completed her Master’s degree at San Diego State University while her husband was stationed in San Diego with the Navy. During her time at San Diego State, Liz was involved in the Transdisciplinary Autism Specialty Project grant, which focused on collaboration among professionals to provide best services for individuals with autism. She recently relocated to Phoenix with her husband after he finished his enlistment in the Navy. In her spare time, Liz enjoys working out, hiking, and traveling.

Karenkaren

Karen just moved to Phoenix from Overland Park, Kansas. She couldn’t be more excited about her move to Arizona for the wonderful weather and great experiences!!  She completed her undergraduate work at Kansas State University and her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During her graduate work, Karen participated in a federal grant project, collaborating with other general and special education teachers to provided services to children and adolescents with communication, literacy and language challenges. She loves working with the school-age population, and thinks being a speech-language pathologist is the most rewarding job!!   In her free time, she takes her dog, Izze, on walks and to the dog park, enjoys cooking, being outside, going to sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.

Mariamaria

Maria graduated with her Master’s of Science from the prestigious Rush University Medical Center.  She is a Chicago land native, and came here to escape the bitter winters of the Windy City.  She has had internships at a variety of Chicago hospitals and long-term care facilities, and she has volunteered at SEDOM, a school for children with special needs, for over twelve years.  Her biggest passions are swallowing disorders, dysarthria, and working with young kids.   She loves all animals, and has a little Cocker Spaniel puppy named Gracie, who is very mischievous, spunky, and always brightens up the day!  In her spare time Maria enjoys cooking, reading, walking, playing sports, and watching the Cubs. GO CUBBIES!  She intends to go to as many regular season games and spring training games as possible. Maria is bilingual in Spanish and also a bit of Greek, her family heritage.

Summersummer

Summer was born and raised in sunny California. She attended the University of
California Davis and received a B.S in Human Development with a double minor in
psychology and linguistics.  She attended Loma Linda University for her M.S. in Speech Language Pathology.  This is her 6th year as a speech pathologist having worked in California schools for 4 years before moving to Arizona.  Once in Arizona she began working in a school district as well as doing in home therapy and working at a hospital. While she is not busy working she likes to travel far and wide and SCUBA dive with her sister

Sarah

Sarah was born and raised in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Penn State University, where she had the opportunity to learn Spanish through a semester long study abroad program in Salamanca, Spain.  Sarah went on to earn her master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University. While attending Arizona State, Sarah combined her love of the Spanish language and her passion for speech therapy by obtaining an emphasis in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology.

After graduating Sarah has continued to expand and refine her expertise in the area of communication disorders, while gaining diverse experiences, through her work in a variety of settings with varied populations.  She has had the opportunity to work in an oral deaf and hard of hearing school, a school for children with autism and other severe communication disorders, an urban elementary school, a non-profit outpatient clinic for children with special needs, and home-based early intervention.  She enjoys using her Spanish skills to help determine whether a child presents with a simple language difference or a true language disorder.  Sarah is passionate about improving children's communication skills with the help of their families.  In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with friends, family and her dog, traveling, exercising, and exploring the Arizona outdoors.
